In 1901, he edited the world Zionist journal Die Welt . Buber favoured the perspectives of Cultural Zionism and attempted to pledge his intellectual endeavours, which focused on Hasidism among other things, to the transformation of contemporary Judaism. During World War I, he edited the journal Der Jude , to which the finest Jewish creative artists contributed. In the early 1920s, he was active in the Liberal rabbinical seminary in Frankfurt. His persona and writings had a vast influence on an important stratum of Jewish teenagers and young people in Central Europe. In 1934, after the Nazis came to power, Buber established the Centre For Jewish Adult Education in Nazi Germany, which he directed and in which he taught until he emigrated to Palestine in 1938. In his final years, he was a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
